Lighthouse Flour Classic Recipes
Beginners Sourdough Bread
Ingredients
1⁄2 Cup (113g) Ripe “fed” Sourdough starter
2⁄3 Cup (170g) Lukewarm water
1 Tsp Lighthouse Yeast + Improver
1 Tsp Salt
2 1⁄4 Cup (301g) Lighthouse Bread & Pizza Plain flour
Method
Mix yeast and lukewarm water until yeast has been dissolved. Leave to stand for 2 minutes.
Mix yeast mixture with all other ingredients until a dough has formed together. Knead the dough further to make a smooth round ball.
Place bread dough into a lightly greased bowl and leave to rise for approx. 2 hours or until doubled in size.
Remove from the bowl and knead to shape bread into desired form. Place on baking tray, cover with clean damp tea towel and leave to rise again for approx. 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 240°C Conventional or 220°C Fan-forced.
Spray/ lightly brush bread dough with lukewarm water- so that the crust of the bread would remain soft and flexible.
Sift a thin layer of plain flour atop on the bread dough.
Make 2 or 3 fairly deep slashes using a serrated knife.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the surface of the bread has turned golden brown.
